About the TIM format

TIM — PlayStation 1 TIM Image

TIM is the native texture format for the original Sony PlayStation (PS1) console, designed to match the PlayStation GPU's VRAM layout. TIM files store texture data used by PS1 games and are widely used in PS1 game development, modding, and emulation communities.

Common uses

  • PS1 game texture modding and replacement
  • PlayStation 1 game development assets
  • Emulator and game archiving workflows
  • Converting PS1 game graphics to modern formats

About the DST format

DST — Tajima Embroidery Format

DST is the most widely supported machine embroidery format, created by Tajima and readable by nearly every commercial embroidery machine. It stores stitch coordinates and machine commands but carries no colour information, which is why a DST file has to be paired with a colour sequence when it is stitched out.

Common uses

  • Sending designs to commercial Tajima, Barudan and Melco machines
  • Exchanging embroidery designs between machine brands
  • Digitizing software output for production embroidery
  • Previewing a stitch file before running it on a machine
