About the G4 format
G4 — CCITT Group 4 FAX
G4 is the more advanced monochrome fax compression format defined by ITU-T for Group 4 fax machines and TIFF storage. Using Modified Modified READ (MMR) compression, it achieves significantly better compression than G3 and is the standard for TIFF-based document archiving.
